After everyone boarded, a gentleman approached the first class FA to ask about the capacity in First. At first, I though he must have been the next person on the list complaining that he didn’t get an upgrade. But then he said he was a gate agent flying non-rev and thought first was booked over capacity and wanted to “look out” for the gate agent. He asked the flight attendant to ask the gate agent how many could be in First on a CRJ7. She said six.
We were in a CRJ7 with three rows of 1 x 2 First for 9 seats and there were six passengers in First. So technically we were at 66%, rather than 50%. My understanding was that regional jets wouldn’t switch to 66% in First until October 1st.
I could have sworn that this was a CRJ900 (four rows instead of three in First) at checkin but can’t say for sure. Maybe there was a last minute equipment change?
Anyone else had experience with CRJs being at 67% capacity in First? With nine seats, do they round up to five upgrades or down to four?
According to this photo I found, it looks like they can only put 4 in FC on the CR7 until September 30th.

While it’s nice to see the GAs using common since here, they will sadly get written up/disciplined if they go over the listed cap as DL is very strict about it.
