I just want to make sure I won’t lose my companion cert - it’s been in my Delta SkyMiles account for almost a year if memory serves correctly, from my last renewal (which was my first renewal).
ive seen conflicting info on this, so I wanted to confirm. I understand them clawing it back if I allow the renewal to occur and THEN downgrade, but wondering if folks can confirm re: my situation. The AF isn’t worth it to me going forward given that the companion cert is the only real benefit I value, and my wife and I together already have two banked with no travel plans anywhere in the near future.
for fuller understanding, my other cards: CSR/CFU/CF, Marriott bonvoy brilliant, Amex gold.
thanks!
Not sure if this is helpful or not, but a few months ago I tried to do the same research to get certainty that I would keep my reserve certificate if I canceled. I found lots of anecdotal responses, but nothing definitive that would balance out AMEX’s stated policy that it will be clawed back. I suspect that it is unlikely it will be clawed back but there are no guarantees. About three years ago I canceled the Delta business platinum card and I’m pretty sure they did claw it back, though I’m not certain. I never found out whether they would actually clawback the reserve certificate because when I called to cancel they gave me a nice retention bonus so I ended up keeping the card.
