Any thoughts?
I'm trying to make the same decision. To me, the main metric is how much use you'll get out of the Club once traveling again, as just about every other benefit of the card has been gutted. I guess some people will get a benefit out of the PQP's, but I don't think it will be much use for me now that it's gone to an annual earn vs. the FPQP's of old.
Given that my travel patterns are likely to be mostly international, which will give me club access anyway, it might be a better proposition to go with the Explorer card. That'll give me a couple of club day passes to use for domestic travel and then I could use the difference in the card fee to buy day passes if needed. OTOH, if I traveled domestically alot, I'd probably hang on to the card just for the club access, especially if I had your grandfathered $395 fee.
