I have stayed at this hotel several time over the years when I attended conferences in Monterey. We stayed here 2 weeks ago for 2 nights after arriving from the East Coast before 4 nights at Ventana Big Sur. Room rate for Saturday night was high so I used points and low cash rate for Sunday. There were many firefighters with fire trucks staying at the hotel, including a group handling the finance side for Cal Fire. There were at least 20+ firefighters lined up to check in (assigned rooms) Sunday morning.

This hotel suited our objective of dinners at Monterey’s Fish House both nights and shopping at Carmel. Carmel Highlands Inn with no breakfast and nothing in easy walking distance for coffee is a non starter.

We had coffee and latte at the Markeplace first thing in the morning before going for a walk on Del Monte Beach, before returning to the hotel for more coffee/latte and breakfast sandwich. Both charges were removed from our bill covered by breakfast.

We would return in the future when in Monterey, even if we have a stay at one of the resorts.
