In terms of the email I am afraid even if you prove you didn't receive it you are not much closer to getting compensation. The airline has stated the cancellation was due to "extraordinary circumstances" and if this is correct no compensation is due regardless of whether you received any email. You can of course argue this isn't correct, but have you any basis to do so?
