After UA’s new flight announcements, I think DL needs to up their game a bit. If UA can do EWR-JNB, why can’t DL do JFK-JNB or at least bring ATL-JNB back. And I think JFK-BOM needs to come back. People are avoiding flying via third countries and the EU and ME are all places many would rather avoid connecting (for different reasons). US-India VFR will continue during COVID (the market is just too big and life does go on). DL has built a ton of good will with their safety, this is the time for DL to strengthen its brand in India. Also they should tie up with Vistara or even AI at BOM for connections.
