I'm not sure if you're aware that Cairo is currently a route that BA currently operate as a long haul route to/from London. At the start of the winter schedule (end of October this year) it will transition to being a short haul route (buy on board food and beverage in Economy, Euro style Business Class). Fares for revenue tickets have only just begun to be filed to reflect this for those buying cash tickets. It could be the amount of Avios required will also drop and these haven't been uploaded yet to reflect. There does appear to be a fair lag in getting this information uploaded and new redemption availability may have been pulled while this is uploaded.
