I’m an Explorist, and I’ve already been bumped up two categories from a base room to a balcony room. I sent an e-mail to the property asking what on-property benefits are offered, like the Andaz wine hour, and if alternatives were available for suspended services, and instead got a response that copy-pasted the benefits afforded for booking through Hyatt Privé. Clearly the agent didn’t give an iota of thought to what I was asking, and I get the feeling this doesn’t bode well for the general property experience - design aside - when I’m there especially after the reviews I’ve gone through... but the Grand Hyatt was more expensive at around 150 USD, and the only other options are the four Hyatt Place properties. I’m not wasting my time or money on Marriott, so at this point the Andaz might be best. Hilton is amazingly cheap, but I don’t have status with them and don’t want to muddy the waters with having three status lines.
Here’s hoping it’s not all bad!

yes, the balcony room is what they give if you don't argue at check in. Right now there is very good prices at Conrad (nice upgrade for diamond, they have the impresario offer, lounge is closed but they give breakfasts and 20% on F&B ). Grand Hyatt lounge is closed so they give breakfast and buffet dinner to globalist. Hyatt places are not bad in Dubai (Avoid Baniyas sq. and Al Rigga).
I was very disappointed by Andaz and even more by the service. Not to mention that they really don't care about privé benefits (the mini bar Was empty and they provided a coke as "free mini bar" benefit).
The PH is open and has privé too (and good IBM rate if you have iD)
