That was my favorite/go to airport anytime I was in Manhattan but revenue management had lost their minds relative to the competitive set (IMO) the last couple times I've been in Manhattan to the point where it was a premium I couldn't justify (in one case 2x the next similar property). I also though the last refresh stripped a lot of the character (e.g. Tom Otterness's art)
As an interesting note, on my first stay there however many years ago the doorman mentioned that the property was originally intended to be studio apartments (hence the larger-than-the-typical Manhattan rooms and some plumbing remnants in closets presumably where galley kitchens would have wound up) but market changes post-9-11 caused the then-owner (Forest City Ratner) to reevaluate and thus there became the Hilton instead.
