I'm currently in the middle of a stay at a Westin, though there's no lounge, the rate has free breakfast, and they gave me a suite upgrade, so I'm not sure I'm missing much. But I have something like 19 more nights across 3 more stays before the end of September, so we'll see.
At most hotels across most programs, your status for the stay is what your status was when you checked in.
