I am a lifetime Platinum Elite with Bonvoy and I am looking to stay at the STR in April of 2021. The question I would love some help with after reading all these reviews and online via the Marriott site is this. Is it possible to do a mixed booking with points, cash, and room levels? I wish to book the JJE Suite for the first four days of our stay and then the overwater St Regis suite for the last 4 days of our stay. Doing all of this with a mixture of points and cash. Currently a full 7 days in the John Jacob Estor Suite is $42K cash and 600K points. So that is a little too rich for our blood but since we are going there for our 25th wedding anniversary and my 50th birthday, we wanted to splurge for a few nights in the JJE suite. Any suggestions or links to someone I could email with the resort about this? Going this far and paying this much, I don't want to try and do all of this online with two separate bookings for the same trip. Thanks so much in advance for any help and insight.
By all means, if you are looking into spending a serious amount of cash for a special occasion in the Maldives, don't do it at the St Regis. It's a nice resort, no doubt about that. But IMHO everything is seriously overpriced (room rates, F&B, ...) and this is nothing more than a consequence of the fact that so many people stay on points. If you have lots of points, you're absolutely right to opt for the St Regis. But if you are willing to spend a good amount of cash and are looking for a truly unique experience, I would highly recommend to have a look at Cheval Blanc Randheli or Soneva Jani.
