How does a Bonvoy Gold apply for this challenge? I don't see any options on the status match page. The Terms and Conditions say Bonvoy Gold members can participate in this.
It's a status match. So, you have to match another hotel elite status like Hilton, Hyatt, IHG for example. And then your status with Marriott will go from Gold to Platinium, if for instance you're a diamond with Hilton. You just attach your invoice from your last stay, removing membership number and address, and also send your account status to the below link:
