+1 on the fight. A few years ago both my wife and I received notices that our accounts had been "deactivated" either by our request or due to inactivity. We sent multiple emails over the course of a month explaining why this was not at all accurate, and requesting reactivation. I finally received two emails, almost simultaneously, the first of which indicated we had violated terms of use and the accounts had been cancelled, while the second email said the accounts had been reactivated and all points restored. Go figure.
I have no idea if the current crackdown will be less forgiving than in the past, but if you've done nothing wrong I would definitely think it would be worth fighting. As always, YMMV.
