It's a shame. Wasn't that long ago that people were loyal to Marriott because they felt valued as Rewards members, even at the lowest tiers.
Yeah, once upon a time (IME long before the merger) there was a sense of Marriott Nice, even for lower tier elites and general members, and Marriott was known for its consistency, reliability, and generally ethical behavior toward customers. RIP
