I suspect this is about connecting the California cities to JAC as much as anything. The SEA flight can collect feed from around the NW.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think there’s as much demand to ski destinations from PDX considering Mt. Hood is an hour from town. Most people around here who travel for ski trips tend to go to either Whistler or Sun Valley, at least in my experience/observation.
