I don't think this is working quite the way Amtrak had planned. I'm not sure whether it's so new that people don't get it or if the trains are so empty that people don't feel compelled to stay in their assigned seats, but it was kind of a joke on my BAL-NYP train this week. I deliberately chose a seat in the QC with no one anywhere near me and several different times, people came strolling in from other cars, seat checks in hand, and took seats nearby. One sat directly across from me and proceeded to take off his mask for pretty much the whole trip (he was nursing a beverage so was not hassled by the conductor). I suppose I could have also moved but I really felt like, well, this is my seat, you shouldn't be there. It was beyond irritating at a time like this.
