If you look at how a new XPS is sold, you will probably know why.

Unlike other product lines, Dell still allows XPS to be fully customized, implying that each Dell XPS is different (unless they are sold pre-configured). Obviously, the replacement will be a refurbished. Several posts ago, I mentioned the "similar or better" policy. The reason for the wait is Dell has to determine which available machine will have to be pulled from Outlet and be shipped to you. Dell has to make sure that you are getting similar or better.

I don't know what you have purchased. So I will not be able to estimate what you will get. But if you are willing to share, I may be able to estimate.
The outlet site consistently shows PCs with the EXACT specs of the one I ordered; hence my surprise as to why it should take so long to send me a replacement machine. Anyway, here is the e-mail message I received today:

We have set up a "System Exchange" dispatch on Dispatch number XXXX.

Your service request reference number is XXX, and Service tag is XXX.

The replacement computer shall be shipped to you in 3-5 business days and will be factory tested, certified refurbished unit.
