Apologies while I try to figure out why some of my pictures posted sideways/upside down - it looks like all pictures I took in a vertical orientation came out sideways.
I'm here right now just for the night. This is only my second time in D.C. in my life, and first as an adult. I chose this properly purely on price and just to check it out. After doing some more reading into this property, it looks like as bimmerfreak above mentioned this used to be a POD hotel. It's a small chain of hostel-like locations that still has a couple in the US. I'll comment below on some of my pictures, but so far here is my summary: It's too small for comfort (for me), and I don't like the area at all. The hotel itself is fine, and the employees I spoke with friendly, but I don't think I would stay here again

This is the view from across the street - the Crimson Whiskey bark and Motto have two entrances but share a lobby, so it doesn't really matter what door you go thourgh.

This is the view from the lobby. We took the yellow line train from DCA to the gallery place/chinatown stop, and if you get off at the chinatown exit, the hotel itself is literally across the street - you will spend more time walking to get out of the station than actually getting to the hotel. Despite a 4pm checkin time, I received a notification and credit charge at exactly noon that our room was ready.

The lobby iteself is very tiny, it's just the small checkin desk and the elevators.

The hallways aren't too exciting, and also a bit dark.

This is the view into the hotel room from the hallway.
The view outside - Not much for views but you can see the Washington Monument.
We booked a Queen bed - the only options are bunk beds, a full bed, or queen. You can see the small bathroom off to the side here as well, but there is not much room at all in between the bed and the walls.

The TV is mounted on the wall and it's a great size. Also of note, I was pleasantly surprised that one of the ~60 channels offered was the NBC Sports Network, so I could watch the NHL playoffs without having to stream the game. It also had the NHL network - so that's a plus from me.

The hilton app doesn't have a floor plan/map for picking rooms, but hopefully this helps. I'm on the top floor so not sure if all floors are the same.

This is the bathroom - It's about as minimum as can be. Water pressure was fine.

This is the (sideways) view standing from the bathroom. It's about 2 feet from the sliding door to the bed, I'd estimate maybe 3 feet from far side to the wall.

Speedtest result. Internet worked great, no connection issues, due to my diamond status I get "premium" internet so take that for what it's worth, I can't compare to the "Non-premium". But I really do appreciate having a stable and efficient internet connection.

From the west side I didn't realize there was such a large branding of the hotel. Also from this picture you can see the rooftop bar area on the hotel. We decided to venture up and take a look and grab a drink.

We had to show our IDs, have our temperature taken, and give our room number to take the elevator to the top. This is the mini-lobby view of the top floor.

And the view.

And another view. Can you see the plane taken off? We we're going to order a drink, but DC has a ridiculous law that you have to order a food item with a drink, so we passed. Speaking of that, here is the menu for drinks and food:
One other cool thing I'll point out is that on the hilton app, there is a "room control" button that I hadn't seen before. Clicking it, you get access to your TV, thermostat, and lights. It works great - almost no delay.
And here is the info given to to elites. I will update my post tomorrow when I find out what the breakfast items are;
I do want to say one last thing though, and again this is coming from someone who hasn't spent any time in DC. Walking out of the gallery place/chinatown train station, there was a group of probably 10 guys smoking weed and one guy urinating in the corner. I felt safe enough, but it still made me feel pretty uncomfortable. It was like this when I took the train back too, and there was a police officer right nearby but he didn't seem to care much. I did some googling and it looks like this area has been like this for some years. I wasn't expecting that, but I guess that's on me. I'd be lying if I said that didn't have an impact on my decision to stay back here, it kind of reminded me of my first time getting off at the main train station in Frankfurt and being a bit shocked at what I saw vs what I was expecting. Also, after dinner when we were walking back, there were about three police cars just off to the east of the hotel. I tried to open the hotel door but couldn't, I think I tried to push and pull but someone from the hotel was right next to the door and opened it - I can't say for sure if it was locked or not (it was 7pm, not midnight) - I didn't ask, but I'm pretty sure I did push and pull and thought it was kind of weird that the person working the desk would be right next to the door willing to let someone in, so, maybe they did have it locked?
Ultimately for me though, the rooms are too small. I am with my Wife, and one of us has to either hop across the bed or backup into one of the small pathways to allow the other to pass. So there's nothing against the hotel, but I would expect the prices for this property to be much closer to hostel prices rather than $100+ a night. It is a very short walk to the arena if it matters for anyone.
