Eight active round trip legs - the previous 4 plus: DTW-ICN, ATL-ICN, DTW-HND, and ATL-HND - of these last 4, only DTW-ICN appear to be running daily. According to DL's schedule, the next routes going A359's are: LAX-HND (eff 24-Oct-2020), DTW-PVG (eff 26-Oct-2020), and ATL-JNB-CPT-ATL (eff 12-Dec-2020). Delta has also moved the following routes off A359's to probably A333's (eff 1-Oct-2020): DTW-CDG, ATL-CDG, and ATL-AMS. LAX-SYD goes A359 1-Jan-2021 from B77L (this route will be stopped in the last half of October). As stated previously, LAX-HND goes A359 (from B772) 24-Oct-2020. These are the last 2 DL B777 routes flown and therefore the fleet will be retired before Halloween (31-Oct-2020). All A359 routes that will be operating as of year end 2020, very easily can be done with the current 13 aircraft - I'm sure MOST will not be daily service. The remaining TPAC routes that will be on DL's schedule for A359 aircraft (that are to begin/swapped/restarted/etc): LAX-PVG (eff 28-Mar-2021), MSP-ICN (eff 28-Mar-2021), and MSP-HND (eff 28-Mar-2021). While none will probably be a daily occurrence, Delta SHOULD have no problems covering all routes until passenger traffic returns - whenever that might be. Oh, btw - JFK-BOM has been permanently nixed, and ATL-PVG has been also pushed out beyond 15-July-2021. It appears that Delta is using the stop-over in ICN to get the PVG bound passengers to their final destination (on Delta Metal - either as A359 or A339) for a while. My guess is the final B777 scheduled passenger flight will be LAX-ATL sometime late October 2020. Delta has used this B777-200LR city pairs to reposition (or swap out) aircraft from ATL. Sorry, some of my bantering should have been placed onto another thread about DL's trip 7 retirements, but all this does sort of fits here too. I'm sure someone has all ready determined flight date flight number. I did the last B774 DTW-ICN-DTW back in 2017-December - The aircraft overnight-ed in ICN so round trip was very lengthy (without sleep). It was still a thrill - the only thing missing was an upstairs seat.
Nice summary. On the 777 thread, the last LAX-ATL they could find was 9/5. I grabbed a seat on that flight just in case.
