So I stuck with it and so far it’s actually not bad, even though the hotel is not really my style. I was upgraded to a Deluxe Suite on the App the day before check-in and that’s what I was given on the day. The hotel feels at very low occupancy and there were / still are quite a few Grand Suites available for my stay so the hotel obviously decided I wasn’t going to be upgraded to that category, which is fine. Bigger miss was I messaged the hotel in advance to say I would be checking in quite late and would prefer a room / suite with a view and they ignored this request, I think all the Deluxe Suites overlook the internal courtyard. I haven’t actually seen another guest on my floor yet! Service so far has been pretty good, breakfast is fine although I imagine scaled back quite a lot from pre-COVID as the selection is not hugely extensive.
