And getting out from the window seat was awkward if someone was in the aisle seat and the table was opened up. This time, however, I am happy to have my very own 4-top table for both legs of WAS-NYP!

But, Amtrak ended up sending me 3 tickets. The first was the auto-assigned seating. The second was when I changed the outbound leg to a 4-top in the Quiet Car, within a minute of the confirmation. The third was when I changed the return leg to a 4-top in the Quiet car, again, within a minute of making the seat change on the outbound leg. Maybe Amtrak should allow people to select their seats before sending the confirmation?
You are given a seat automatically when your ticket purchase goes through, and so your emailed eticket shows that seat. Any time you change your seat, you get sent a new eticket by email that shows the new seat assignment. The system is designed to send you an ticket showing your seat whenever you are assigned one. This makes perfect sense.
