I chatted with another agent on the app. He told me that vouchers set to expire by 9/30/20 will be extended. He directed me to email AA through the website (steps below). I did so yesterday and today got a response confirming my voucher would be extended and that I would receive instructions on how to access it as an eVoucher. Two minutes later, the second email arrived and the full value of my paper voucher is now an eVoucher. The new expiration is a year from today, not a year from the paper voucher's expiration, so I lost a couple of weeks (mine expired on 9/7). Not a big deal and certainly better than losing the $500+ I had.
