I have posted many times about this and am convinced it is a stealth devaluation of Avios. For short haul flights, the “standard” Avios redemption rates have been increased and a reduced part-payment (Cash and Avios) has been introduced to allow for short haul redemptions at previous levels. This fails when you book a long and short haul flight combination and the price calculator charges the “new” Avios amount for the short haul sector while including the full taxes and charges for the whole flight in the calculation.
