Wow. I haven't seen anything approaching that anywhere. Personally, I perceive the risk of a gym to come from breathing in the droplets exhaled by others who are working out intensely in a small and poorly ventilated area. So i almost certainly wouldn't work out at a hotel gym or any other indoor gym within say 20 feet of someone else.
But I don't personally perceive a risk from surfaces or lingering droplets--at least no greater risk than i am willing to tolerate in stores etc.
So, given the lack of other people using the gym at the same time as me, I haven't viewed going to a hotel gym (on the occasions I've gone) as a high-risk activity at all.
