IME, the best-preserved pre-jet-age major airport is NAS. The new "international terminal" notwithstanding, Nassau airport (or "Windsor Field", for those in the know) is an archaeologist's delight, from the Bam Boo Room, to the mysterious "cafeteria" in the "Domestic" lounge that serves the nation's most inedible food, and even to those groovy bubble-shaped telephone booths that look like gigantic hair dryers, circa 1953. I keep expecting to see some modernization scheme on my yearly transits to the place, but so far nothing.
There’s a push from parts of the historic preservation community to save the main Gander, Newfoundland terminal because it is seen as the best remaining example of a Golden Age of Flight airport (it was the refueling point for so many transatlantic flights before the jet age)
The only sit down restaurant at VPS is both inside and outside of security- different waitstaff work on the landslide and airside sides of the barrier and food gets passed landslide through a window from the airside kitchen
