My one shopping exception is duty-free liquor. I'll always at least check it out, time allowing. Unfortunately as a US resident it's gotten harder to find bargains vs. years ago as most duty-free shops worldwide have adopted USD pricing. That eliminates the opportunity for seizing on exchange rate fluctuation. My buys now are usually limited to local products not widely exported.
That, and sometimes it is just easier to get a bottle home, even paying a bit more, by being able to fly with it onboard.
