I forgot to post my review from April 2018:
Checkin was very easy - as HH Gold received a regular room on a higher floor. Relatively quiet, good water pressure, one of the better doubletrees. Buffet breakfast at casual restaurant was typical large E Europe spread - a treat to those of us normally stuck with US hotels. Cooked to order eggs/omelets etc. The evening menu was not as exciting so we ate at the bar (where we were approached by working ladies). There is a grocery store a couple blocks up the street where you can stock up on snacks and drinks for your fridge - even cheaper than Bangkok. A short hike to the older part of town and you'll find numerous restaurants within 10-20 minutes. Be forewarned, Amex is rarely accepted though VI/MC are usually ok. There is also a decent bakery off the lobby that connect to the mall next door.
In all a very positive experience though it is hard to believe this is currently the #1 hotel on TA.
