Because of the 1000 mile booking bonus for doing it on aa.com. Also, if you can get them to price the flight, and then not buy it from them, but buy it online, you should be able to save the 5 bucks. Then it's 5 (or is it 6 now?) bucks cheaper than getting it on Orbitz.
