You people who want babies banned from flying should ban yourselves from flying. Problem solved.
As we have been made aware through extensive media coverage, there are "super spreaders" of this virus. And wearing the mask cuts down significantly on someone's potential to be a "super spreader." There is no proof this kid is or isn't sick. One person has this virus then spreads it in an airplane (awfully unsanitary environment) and then those 30 people who catch it in the plane all spread it to others and you can see how this one plane and one kid with no mask who is sick could be a real problem.
Also through extensive media coverage we have been told wearing a mask does not protect us personally rather it protects those around us. So therefore those who do not want to wear a mask are inconsiderate of others around them.
But as others point out the problem is if an exception is made and if the kid isn't wearing a mask, others in the plane will think the policy doesn't apply to them either. If I take a flight with the expectation everyone will have a mask on, that is what is advertised and that is what needs to take place. Period. And yeah we have reached the point here where if you can't wear a mask, you are being excluded from certain private businesses (such as airplanes, such as retail stores), even if you have a "medical reason."
I have long been critical and cynical of mask rules. I have posted that people in airplanes will just drink and act like they are drinking and they will have the masks off. Or people will claim a medical reason for not wearing a mask at a retail store and go shop with no mask. Well, the tide has really turned here the past few weeks as the virus cases keep spiraling out of control. Airlines are discouraging food/drink and being very strict about people keeping masks on in flight. Retail stores are telling customers who can't wear a mask while shopping to order online and use curbside pick-up because they will not allow them to shop. It is game over if you don't want to wear a mask or can't wear one- you basically have to stay home. I have never seen anything like this before typically in the US there is an exception to everything and people always find a way around rules like this. But it is different this time.
