Thanks for your reply. I appreciate the time and comprehensiveness. To be clear, I was and are a regular traveler for whom making a KL/DL flight within the timeline would not have been a problem. Except that I am currently in Australia (no sky team partners), and you may or may not know, it is against the law for any Australian citizen to travel outside of Australia at the moment (even with 14 day quarantine on return). For example, every inward flight is also limited to 30-50 passengers in total irrespective if aircraft type. We are not even allowed to cross internal state borders. Given that situation will be in place until at least mid 2021, it has created a situation for my KL miles, which like many of us was unexpected. Yes we are like prisoners on an island, a nice one but still locked in.

They were due to expire in December 2020 so I have not benefited from any Covid19 extension, but I cannot just book a flight on DL, KL etc as I cannot leave the country so I am looking for any other option. And importantly, many FF programs view the use of miles as method of extension. Spending a large amount of miles on a flight I may not be able to take, or may not even be loaded in the system is also not overly sensible.

In a "normal" situation I would have just taken a flight into Asia or the Pacific.

Yes, donating miles could be a best worst case option...Thanks for the idea :-)

Kind regards,

KF
