Ritz-Carlton Jakarta drama
So, I have never stayed at this JW Marriott, or Ritz-Carlton Mega Kuningan before. I love nice properties though, so instead of just booking the rooms included in the voucher, I decided to book a suite or room with lounge access. I figure this way I get to see the benefits of the entire property.
At the RC, I booked a suite. I emailed them today for a connecting room to use the vouchers. The vouchers state it’s good for a Grand Room. I ask for a room with two beds. On the Marriott website the king and double bed rooms are both listed as Grand Rooms. I get an email back shortly that there is an extra daily 250k IDR charge for a room with two beds. The rooms are both the same size.
I think it somewhat ludicrous that a property is trying to implement post sale restrictions on vouchers that they produced and advertised. Especially, as the last I heard, Jakarta hotels are at pretty low occupancy.
After waiting for a reply for most of the day, I finally get a “We’ll waive the charge, just this time”. In difficult times like this, properties should be trying to bring new customers in, not drive them away. Customer service, and easy to understand terms and conditions should always be main points of their focus, when you market a promotion like this.
