This. I have an $89 paper voucher, and another one worth $750 coming to me. The only way to redeem is book the ticket and put it on hold and either go to an AA ticket desk (i.e. airport) to complete the transaction, or call AA reservations and tell them you want to apply the voucher. At this point they'll do something with the record to put it on hold longer while you MAIL THE VOUCHER TO THEM. It's almost like they are banking on a percentage of people won't even use them.
