After just spending a week in 6 hotels up on the West Coast, it is hit and miss how seriously a hotel takes the protocols. I could not identify any correlation to any reason you may try to explain why a hotel is or is not following protocols (i.e. rural/city/political leanings/how hard an area has been impacted, etc). I am not brand loyal to hotels so I stayed 3 Hiltons and 3 Marriotts. The best hotel for following protocols was a Hilton in the middle of nowhere, and the worst was also a Hilton near a state capital. The rest fell somewhere in the middle, performing well in some measures but lacking in others. The most noteworthy thing was how clean all the surfaces appeared in all of the hotels - does not do much for an airborne virus, but I am happy to see everything actually clean for once. None of the hotels enforced the mask mandates for guests.
