Hi there!
Been lurking on Flyertalk for a while, and consider this to be my first real post!
I've created
Quixical.com. A suite of chatrooms to allow passengers to talk to other passengers, or potential passengers of airline routes around the world.
I started flying relatively late in life, and am still often surprised by how little official information is passed between the cabin crew and passengers... Especially when a flight is delayed, or if there's a problem. So what I wanted to do, was provide a tool to allow passengers to:
- Co-ordinate their complaints about a flight delay. Especially when passengers are held on the plane or in the departure lounge, with barely any official information as to why
- Arrange opportunities to swap seats, when permissible and desirable (drove me mad being separated from the people I booked the flight with)
- Trade information about destinations (where to stay, tourist attractions, etc) in an informal manner
- Find fellow lone travellers... possibly even co-ordinate journeys, if that works out!
- Aggregate opinions and reviews about the standards maintained by different carriers... I'm not the most seasoned flyer, but I'm shocked by what some of the high volume carriers do!
- Discuss with, and warn other passengers about prerequisites for specific routes (baggage allowances, COVID-19 standards, custom standards at airports)
Users can post single shot messages, but if other passengers are logged in and viewing the same route, then they can chat in realtime.
Most importantly, anyone can read messages, but you have to log in to post / chat.
If you do get round to creating an account on the app, and test it out, you can contact me directly on
[email protected], or find me on Twitter (
https://twitter.com/Quixical1). But tbh, I'll happily answer any questions about the site here. :]
Lastly, I'd like to thank the creators of the Airline Route Mapper,
cockpitvisit and
dragoon17c -
Airline Route Mapper tool (windows based)
Reverse engineering their application informed some of the design decisions I took in making this app, so I'm very grateful for their latent input, and would love to hear what they think of the app!
Cheers!
