U.S. Government On-Duty Travel vs Military Family Rate
So I was about to book a stay at a hilton hotel for my family and I noticed that there are 2 different rates for government. One says "US Government on Duty Travel" for $103 a night with a description that says travel orders are required and the much more expensive "Military Family Rate" for $199 a night.
I've never noticed this before. In the past, I would just choose the military/government rate option for my entire family to stay at and I've never been asked for travel orders. Is this something new with Hilton? Has anyone done the "US Government on Duty Travel" option for their family and not been asked to provide travel orders? The Military Family Rate is almost 2 times as expensive and it's more expensive than the typical HHonors discount. Not even sure why Hilton should offer the Military Family Rate if it's more expensive than the regular HHonors rate.
