An air of "I know better than you" is not something I want to see in any government official-- especially someone related to law enforcement. These people need to remember that they are called public servants for a reason-- and that reason is not because the public likes to be needlessly harassed on a daily basis. (We get enough of that from folks in "snazzy white shirts" with those oh-so-impressive gold embroidered badges every time we fly.)
Often times some of these folks may have a different perspective on things, but that does not automatically mean that they know better or that they are better. This is not to say that everybody should always question authority at every twist and turn-- it is to say that people should use common sense and reason when encountering a situation. Keep in mind that just as surely as the government and police don't have all the answers, neither do you.
Servant is not a public doormat. Whent I was a police officer I got it all the time: "I pay your salary, etc etc." Doesnt mean that we dont have feelings too. I like your last comment.
