I remember the times when PG offered Lounge-access for Plats and above. The lounge was so crowded so that they had to refuse entrance for late comers - it's actually pretty small really and nothing exciting at all except for a good view. Either they had to rebuild the whole lounge and remove some walls and rooms or restrict access for unpaying Bonvoy Plats and above. The choice was pretty simple.
The fault was of course from the start in the architecture phase, why in a city like Tokyo, one of the biggest cities on earth with millions of people offer a lounge area as small as PG's? It's still a mystery for me.
Still the PG is a nice hotel with lovely rooms but for us freeloaders it's not giving much back than breakfast and... pool access
Marriott needs a complete 100% Marriott luxury hotel in Tokyo and I hope Mesm will do just that. I'm a big fan of the autograph brand in general. Why is there no JW in Tokyo btw? That's very weird.
