I made a point like this in my addendum - per the response of canadiancow above, I didn't suggest the cancellations were for economic reasons but instead just argued that Air Canada hadn't proven they were due to government regulations, as other airlines were operating the same route at the time Air Canada's flights were canceled (and still are).
