Marriott has ran very "generous promotions" on many previous occasions, including instant (old) Gold for Visa cardholders, instant (old) Gold for SPG Gold, and instant Titanium for those who applied for Platinum challenges. Not to mention the free night credits from various credit cards.

And also, your information is very wrong. The Taobao member doesn't get Platinum status until the challenge is completed, so calm down and have a good night's sleep.
