There seem to have been many new openings in Santorini over the last couple of years but very little action in this thread! I'm arranging a last minute trip next week, I have a few nights at Mystique booked so have Oia covered already and I'm looking for somewhere luxurious in either Imerovigli or Fira to do some exploring of that part of the island. Would possibly also consider Megalochori at a push.
Any recommendations? I bias towards modern rather than traditional generally.
Grace Santorini looks tempting but frankly their pricing is probably a killer unless someone tells me it's a must stay, they still seem to want >EUR1k per night for a basic room despite the fact that hotels on the island are half empty at best and it just doesn't seem worth it when I'm going to try to spend not too much time at the hotel. That probably leaves me with a few choices like Chromata and the new Katikies Garden. Cavo Tagoo and the Andronis Wellness Concept look nice but neither are opening in time. Also like the look of the new ISTORIA Design Hotel but the location is totally wrong. Any others I should consider?
Andronis properties are great, like recommended by few others here as well. I have sent clients there and they all came back with nothing but positive experiences. Santorini "luxury" is in a niche of its own. I can't think of another place with a comparable property market, maybe Santa Fe NM if there were many more non-luxury hotels, prices increased many folds, and became very popular with backpackers.
Grace Santorini is great. Toured the property - wonderful from hard product to soft product (relatively speaking). But would not pay that much to stay there. In fact, I would be reluctant pay much for most properties in Santorini after having been spoiled by Asian, London, and Parisian hotels.
