You are wrong, totally wrong. EU law overrides Greek 'law' and the European Commission has informed all rogue airlines like Aegean (and their protective bouncer governments) that EU261 (2004) law continues to apply in regard to refunds of tickets cancelled by airlines irrespective of reason - i.e. refunds must be made within 7 days. For tickets issued in Greece, it is certainly currently almost impossible to get the law enforced as Aegean is effectively insolvent and the government is prioritising protection of a national strategic asset over individual citizens' property rights. But, for Aegean tickets issued in other countries, the mickey mouse Greek voucher law does not apply.

Of course, almost all airlines initially tried to get away with the same wheeze as Aegean, and Germany did its best to protect LH Group by trying to strong-arm the EU to allow vouchers to be issued in lieu of refunds. But to its great credit, the European Commission stood up to the bullying and insisted that EU airlines must refund their clients and do so promptly. Also to their credit, LH Group has now reversed its blocking tactics and yesterday I received Piraeus Bank ( yes Greek!!!) credit card refunds totalling €3,000 for 4 LH/OS tickets. Even Easyjet has decided to follow EU law and they have promised me a refund of a recently cancelled ticket within 25 days. I find it incredible that certain posters on this thread actually attempt to defend the indefensible mafia behaviour of Aegean in forcing customers to provide them with interest-free' bank' loans. Truly shocking!!
