Thanks for all the inputs, it really helped to make my decision. (flying in and out of SFO) I will stick with the rental car due to bringing along the pelican tool case plus laptop backpack and a carryon. I was toying with flying into OAK and returning the rental car there and take the BART to SFO, so it was really good to hear about the long walk to AS gates while managing my stuff with tools.
