Is there anything official or posted on the new rules? I'm in a similar situation to the OP, so considering taking a trip from Europe to Hong Kong that would have a 10 hour "enforced" layover in J, which will be overnight. I would probably book the hotel anyway (as you say, very pricey), but was curious as it would always be nice to get for free from QR...
