My Chase Marriott Bonvoy just renewed and I got charged the annual fee on July 3rd. There is a free 35k boundless night that was added to my card a few weeks ago. I did not want to pay the fee so I called to cancel hoping they would offered me retention on the fee, heck if they offered me anything I probably would have taken it. Nevertheless I canceled. WIll and got the fee refunded. Will they claw back the free night?
Chase gives you the free night at the end of the year, rather than the beginning, so that free night was covered by the fee you paid last year.
