I'm about 4000 miles short of 2P and have a flight booked in Dec SFO-LHR-VIE flying back in January. (SFO-LHR is about 5300 miles).

1. What do you think are my chances of being "comped" to 2P before the departure?

2. Once I'm in VIE and the segments post, is there a way to pre-reserve E+ for my return flight? Should I call UA's reservation in US, UK or Germany?

3. Let's say I'm 2P on my way back and have an E+ seat pre-reserved, is there a chance I can get an E+ seat for my other half in advance? (She will not be traveling on the same PNR)
