Food box also seems to depend on departure time. I had at least one evening (I think 7:55 pm departure) flight where they brought the basket around and no boxes, and this was after they'd started boxes. On my last flight PDX-ONT (mid-day, food box) a couple days ago someone didn't want a box and asked for the basket and the FA brought it just to them.
