Welcome to Flyertalk Margaret Spector, and welcome to the BA forum.

It's unfortunate but the rule that BA have been applying is that those who apply for FTVs can't then change their minds and have a refund (with a partial exception for those on purely Avios bookings). So your only line of approach here would be if you could prove you did no such thing. That poses two problems, firstly it's the absence of proof in a way, and that's always very difficult to do; and secondly BA hold all the cards and all the data. It may be that one of your webmails was interpreted as requesting an FTV, rightly or wrongly, but the advice in this forum was and is to call up to get refunds. But if you feel strongly about this, and assuming you are based in the UK, you could put forward a Money Claim Online (MCOL) application in the Small Claims courts. I don't know how much BA would contest this but traditionally they only fight cases which, from their perspective, they have about an 80% chance of winning. I have mentally ruled out chargeback since the absence of proof makes that unviable to my mind, but others may disagree.
