Interesting. I would expect the resort fee to be charged on an award booking. I just don't stay at places that have resort fees ( I don't go to Las Vegas ) , but that fee is not dependent on the price and I would not expect that it would be waived on a points booking.

Obviously, if your confirmation email says nothing about the fee then the hotel cannot charge it, period. Glad you threatened to charge back.
