given the current direction of the world I have no regrets about burning 2 x 35k certs this summer. Not clear we will even be traveling again to a 35k property before Jan 1.

nobody knows. Marriott has been better than IHG but maybe they will draw the line at Jan 1. I hope not as I have a 50k cert but who knows.
you cannot transfer certs but you can use it book a room under your name and then have your spouse checkin. Sometimes no questions are asked. Helps to put the name on the Rez.
