Disagree. UA offers nothing to the premium transcon passenger that AA doesn’t with the sole exception that they use the 757 while AA uses the A321. Outside of that, AA offers F, they offer the exact same seat in J but with a better soft product, and they offer better lounges, at least on the JFK side than UA ever has. Beyond that, UA offers even fewer connections ex-JFK than AA does.

I feel like UA competition was about the last thing that drove this decision.
